Get to know Charles Matlock
Hey, I’m Charles! I’m originally from Barbourville, but in 2009, God completely turned my life around—He saved me and delivered me from a lifetime of addiction. Not long after that, I moved to Corbin and met my amazing wife, Danielle. I’ve been working at Pepsi for the past 14 years, and Danielle and I are blessed with five grown kids and one sweet granddaughter, Charlee, who keeps us smiling.
Since coming to Parkway, I’ve had the chance to be part of several ministries, including jail and prison outreach, and I stay active in the local recovery community. God has given me a heart for people who are walking through tough seasons, especially those in recovery, and I love seeing lives transformed the way mine was.
Just recently, I received my ordination as a Bishop through the Church of God, which has been such an honor. I’ve also gone back to school at the University of the Cumberlands, and I’m hoping to finish my bachelor’s degree in social work by the end of next summer. I’m incredibly thankful for the freedom and new life God’s given me. One of my favorite verses is Galatians 5:1 — “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free! Stand firm!! Don’t be entangled again in any bond of slavery!”
