Get to know Kaylee Shipley
Kaylee grew up attending church and understanding the importance of having a relationship with Christ; she got saved at the young age of 10. Now, she gets to pour into children’s lives the same age that she accepted Jesus into her heart. Growing up, her favorite verse was:
“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: And I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.”
Psalm 23:6 KJV
Kaylee graduated from Lindsey Wilson College in 2019 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services and Counseling, becoming a first generation college student after following God’s plan in her life to help “heal broken children’s hearts.”
She continued her education at Eastern Kentucky University and received her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2021, and another Master’s in 2022, School Counseling. In Spring 2022, Derek and Kaylee became members of Parkway and have been serving in Kids World since.
Currently, Kaylee is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and works at Cumberland River Behavioral Health working with children of all ages. She has expertise working in early childhood, and with children and adolescents who have experienced trauma. Kaylee is working towards receiving a Registered Play Therapist credential in the future.
While all of her family taught her the importance of reading the Bible, following God, and having a relationship with Christ, her fondest memories growing up were Sunday school crafts and learning all 66 Books of the Bible in order with her grandfather.
It’s encouraging to know the opportunity we have to make a lasting impact on children’s lives.
